As previously reported and predicted by this web site the paradigm shift in “preventive medicine” from evidence based medicine to immunization by vaccination is becoming more and more of a reality with each passing day!

In late October of 2011 the Centers of Disease control (CDC), in its latest attempt to transform the face of preventive medicine in America, has stated that all males between the ages of eleven and twenty one years old should receive the HPV (Human Papillomavirus Vaccine) which was originally recommended only for young women.  The CDC alleges that new information leads them to believe that this vaccine should  now be recommended for all people.

The HPV vaccine is to prevent the infection of human papillomavirus, which has been shown to cause genital warts in both men and women, and cervical cancer in women.  The CDC claims that vaccinated boys who receive this serum will not be able to spread HPV to girls subsequently reducing their risk of cervical cancer, genital warts and other cancers.
The CDC states that is is important that the vaccination is received before children become sexually active.

According to the CDC, this recommendation comes after the committee, comprised of 16 medical societies including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians, suggested its importance in late October. However, the recommendations were made public in the Feb. 1st issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine and on Feb. 3rd in the issue of Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.

Canadian researchers Lucija Tomljenovic, PhD, and Christopher Shaw, PhD, from the Neural Dynamics Research Group, University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, point out that there is a major discrepancy in claims regarding the safety and efficacy of Gardasil (Merck & Co) and Cervarix (GlaxoSmithKline) — the 2 HPV vaccines that are currently on the market.

According to our research the CDC has received 20,096 reports of adverse side effects including blood clots, paralysis, seizures, Bells Palsy, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and pancreatitis.

Most recently, according to the National Vaccine Information Center, 78 cases of genital warts have also been linked to receiving the Gardasil vaccine.

Dr. Diane Harper, the principal investigator for clinical vaccine trials with Merck and international expert on HPV science, has been quoted as saying, “Gardasil is not really a cervical cancer vaccine. The vaccine prevents HPV infection, not the development of cervical cancer.”

“Cervical cancer takes years to develop. Parents should be concerned because this vaccine was tested in the short term, and therefore it has not actually been proven to prevent cervical cancer, which is how it has been marketed to the public” said Gina Medvedz, Certified Nutrition Consultant.

In a report released this month by the Cochrane Collaboration, a non profit organization dedicated to  analyzing what is arguably termed as medical evidence, stated that drug giant Roche refused to release information which would assist them in their continued study on the safety and effectiveness of their drug Tamiflu used to treat many strains of flu virus.

Iain Chalmers, one of the founders of the Cochrane Collaboration, stated that this was not the first time  that Cochrane scientists have tangled with Roche. Back in 2010, Tom Jefferson, the lead author of the study, told The Independent (a British news journal) that he was concerned that the European Medicines Agency, which approved Tamiflu, only saw some trial results and the FDA is believed not to have reviewed the largest ever trial of Tamiflu when the med was being considered for approval.

Iain Chalmers  told a conference on research integrity in London, three weeks ago that a review of influenza treatments will state that Roche would not comply with requests to provide additional data despite their knowledge of an important review of Tamiflu was scheduled for release on January 18th of this year (2012).  Cochrane scientists did manage to acquire some of the needed information from the BMJ (British Medical Journal) not however all of the available information that they required and requested, from Roche, to update the review and produce the high quality information product which has made Cochrane Collaboration the The Gold Standard of medical evidence.

Now over the past few years Health Products Guru has written articles expressing concern about the use of the mercury containing preservative thimerosal which has been used in many serums.  Our original concern was that it is believed by many within the scientific community that there is a link between Thimerosal and the increase in the autism rate being seen world wide over the past few decades.  This preservative has, for the most part, been removed from Thimerosal.  At least that is what has been reported.

Our new concern is that Cochrine scientists believe, at least at this point in time, that there is a strong possibility that Tamiflu, the world’s major antidote to flu epidemics, were unable to show that it reduced the risk of pneumonia and that the drug may actually cause damage to the immune system!

“Investigators from the Cochrane collaboration, which reviews evidence for medical treatments, found Tamiflu could reduce the length of time people with the virus suffered symptoms. But they were unable to show that it reduced the risk of potentially lethal complications such as pneumonia. They also found evidence from one trial that Tamiflu could ‘inhibit the body’s ability to mount a normal immune response to influenza’. (The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, Jan 19 2012)

Jan 23, 2012 (CIDRAP News) – A 39-year-old man from southwestern China died yesterday from H5N1 avian influenza, the country’s second death in less than a month from the disease, according to Xinhua, China’s state news agency.

Since 2003 China has reported 41 cases of H5N1 infection which have resulted in 29 deaths. The last two fatalities, as far as has been ascertained thus far, had no exposure with any poultry of any kind.

In related news, the WHO recently confirmed Vietnam’s latest H5N1 death, in an 18-year-old man from Kien Giang province who died on Jan 16, according to a Jan 20 statement. The man had been exposed to ducks. The Pasteur Institute and local health officials are conducting an outbreak investigation, the WHO said.

The man’s death from the disease pushes Vietnam’s H5N1 toll since 2003 to 120 illnesses, 60 of them fatal.

So far this year the WHO has confirmed 8 H5N1 infections and 5 deaths, spanning five different countries. Four of the cases and 3 of the deaths are counted in the 2012 total; the rest are included in the total for 2011.

Interesting enough, and contradictory to my research, the WHO claims to have a candidate vaccine to deal with this growing concern to public health. (A/Hubei/1/2010, a clade 2.3.2.1 virus).

The WHO is reporting some 582 cases (world wide) since 2003 with 343 cases which resulted in death.  As stated in my first article about H5N1 (written about a month ago) the mortality rate for this strain of influenza is much higher than H1N1 and could become a more serious health issue than we ever dreamed H1N1 could ever be!

Do we have all of the information that we need to make informed decisions with regard to our personal health care and that of our loved ones?

One would think, with the advent of the Internet and the subsequent explosion of available information as the net has continues to grow, that people would be making better decisions in terms of their physical health.  The truth of the matter is that many people are suffering from information overload and are having a difficult time discerning good information from bad.

To further complicate matters a government advisory board (the US government), as reported by the NY Times on Wednesday (12/22/11), has asked scientific journals to cease reporting certain information regarding bio-medical experiments which they believe would aid terrorists in creating deadly viruses which could be used to touch off epidemics.

It seems that experiments conducted in the US and the Netherlands scientists have created a highly transmissible form of a deadly flu virus that does not normally spread from person to person.  This particular virus (H5N1) rarely infects human beings has an extraordinarily high death rate when it does.

This virus was first detected in 1997 of the some 600 people who have contracted it more than half have lost their lives due to the infection.  Nearly all have caught it from birds, and most cases have been in Asia. Scientists have watched the virus, worrying that if it developed the ability to spread easily from person to person, it could create one of the deadliest pandemics ever.

“A government advisory panel, the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity, overseen by the National Institutes of Health, has asked two journals, Science and Nature, to keep certain details out of reports that they intend to publish on the research. The panel said conclusions should be published, but not “experimental details and mutation data that would enable replication of the experiments.”  Reports the Times.

Bruce Alberts, the science editor of the publication, stated in his piece that although the NSAB cant force the publications to comply with their request, the well respected journal, Science & Nature, is seriously considering the recommendations of the panel and would more than likely withhold some information from the public in the name of national security.

Is this a form of censorship?  Might it do more harm than good?

Apparently these studies, one at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, and the other at the University of Wisconsin-Madison — were paid for by the National Institutes of Health.  Now the NIH is a government agency which is wholly supported by our tax dollars and is subsidized by the Department of Health and Human Services.

David R. Franz, a biologist who formerly headed the Army defensive biological lab at Fort Detrick, Md., is on the board and said its decision to intervene, made in the fall, was quite reasonable.
“My concern is that we don’t give amateurs — or terrorists — information that might let them do something that could really cause a lot a harm,” he said in an interview.   “It’s a wake-up call,” Dr. Franz added. “We need to make sure that our best and most responsible scientists have the information they need to prepare us for whatever we might face.”

Ronald M. Atlas, a microbiologist at the University of Louisville and past president of the American Society for Microbiology, who has advised the federal government on issues of germ terrorism, said the hard part of the recommendations would be creating a way to move forward in the research with a restricted set of responsible scientists.
He said that if researchers had a better understanding of how the virus works, they could develop better ways to treat and prevent illness. “That’s why the research is done,” he said.
The government, Dr. Atlas added, “is going to struggle with how to get the information out to the right people and still have a barrier” to wide sharing and inadvertently aiding a terrorist. “That’s going to be hard.”

Basically what we have here is the US Government sponsoring the creation of deadly viruses and then inhibiting the studies needed to prevent and treat the very illness that they themselves have created.  It seems that this H5N1 virus is the result of modifying the genetic sequencing of the H1N1 virus which caused the 1918 pandemic which killed up to 100 million people.

It is believed by many that the same such experiments, being carried out in Mexico by an American based company working on the development of a vaccine for the H1N1 virus, was the cause of the 2009 pandemic due to the virus not being contained within the confines of the laboratory.

Now I completely understand the need to protect our national security.  I also agree that if this information happened to fall into the wrong hands that is has the potential to cause devastating harm to our citizenry and people the world over.  I can even understand, to a point, the need to suppress such information.

What I don’t understand is why the government has taken an active roll in the creation of a new virus to begin with, using our tax dollars to do so, and then impede the scientific community from finding a remedy for the potential danger that they themselves have created.

The bottom line here is that no matter what the reasons the people are on the hook again.  Our very lives may hang in the balance.  We know that the mortality rate of the H1N1 virus has been very low since 2009.  Each year since then, at its seasonal apex, the mortality rate has been at a steady average of between 8% & 9% and the rate of infection has declined.

What we don’t know is what effect this H1N1 hybrid (H5N1), for lack of a better term, will have on our population if it ever does get out into the open.  This in my opinion is something to be very concerned about.

We know that H5N1 has a mortality rate of about 50% (6-7 times higher than H1N1)

We know that the scientific community doesn’t know how to kill the virus.

We know that one of the worlds leading authorities on the subject believes that this government intrusion may cause set backs in the discovery and development of a remedy for the virus and the subsequent infections caused by it.

We also know that certain information is more than likely going to be suppressed and hidden from the public.

How confident are you that the government and or the scientific community are working in your best interest?

Are you willing to put your trust in people who are in the business of creating deadly biological  organisms?

Are you ready to protect the lives of yourselves and your loved ones?

Ladies and gentlemen this article is not being written to put a scare into anyone.  It is a warning shot across your bow.  It is being written to get your attention.  I am not asking you to believe me.  In fact I encourage you to do your due diligence and discover the truth for yourselves.

Two years ago we wrote that the so called H1N1 pandemic was much to do about nothing.  Yes I know that some people did contract the virus and that some even died from it.  I wish with all of my heart that  this truth could be changed.  But it can’t.  The light at the end of the tunnel however is that the number of deaths ended up being a fraction of what the CDC and the WHO were claiming.  Thank God for that!

Last year I wrote an article which broached the idea that there was going to be a paradigm shift in the way conventional medicine was going to look at preventative medicine and that vaccinations were going to be the center piece of this shift.  What was written in this article has and is continuing to come to pass. In this article I am again sending out a warning to my readers.  Do all that you can do to optimize your body’s  immune system response as so as you can.  It is far better to be safe than sorry my friends.

More people are killed by prescription drug use than motor vehicle accidents according to an ABC News story that broke today.

Dr. Leonard Paulozzi, medical epidemiologist at the Center for Disease Control(CDC) said in the interview that death toll’s were being driven up by prescription drug use.  This is the first time that motor vehicle accidents have surpassed death by drug abuse since 1979 when the government first started tracking drug-related deaths.  Dr. Paulozzi also noted that the decrease in the mortality rate  from motor vehicle accidents is partly responsible for the swing.

Bob Anderson, chief of the CDC’s mortality statistic branch, said the swing is bittersweet. “On one hand the motor vehicle death rate has been going down, and I think that’s important in and of itself,” said Anderson, crediting the bulk of the drop to speed limits and seatbelt laws. “On other hand, we’ve seen a fairly steep rise in drug-related deaths, and the rise is mostly due to drug overdose.”

“The number of people starting to have significant consequences, or at least recognizing they need help, is on the rise,” said Delany. “A lot of people think that because you need a prescription, it must be a pretty safe drug. But it’s addictive. Even if you take them the way they’re prescribed. You can build up a tolerance pretty quickly.”

According to a study by Samsha and the CDC in 2008 305,885 Americans in emergency rooms, which is more than double the 144,644 visits in 2004,

Joel Saper, founder of the Michigan Headache and Neurological Institute in Ann Arbor, said the rise in drug-related deaths underscored the liberal “unleashed” prescription of opioid painkillers nationwide.

“It’s one thing to use these drugs for surgery, trauma or burns. But this stuff is given to teenagers for headaches,” said Saper. “While there are people who deserve narcotics for pain, not all doctors are trained to understand how these drugs are used. They don’t monitor patients carefully, and they don’t look out for multisourcing” — patients who seek drugs from multiple doctors. “Until that all can be controlled, we’re not going to stave off the continued growth of drug-related deaths.”

Why is this happening in our country?   I believe it is because conventional doctors are, as usual, treating the symptoms rather than the cause and the therapy, if surgery is not indicated is always, take a pill.  Have a headache?  Take a Pill.  Can’t sleep?  Here’s another.  Acid ingestion?  Have a purple one.

I often wonder, especially after watching a television commercial about a new drug, are people ever going to realize that when a one minute commercial which dedicates 15 seconds to the benefit and 45 seconds to the side effects that there might be  a problem with that drug?  When are they going to seek natural remedies which are as equally effective as pharmaceuticals without the side effects?

World wide study finds breast cancer rates on the increase world wide.

A University of Washington report states that the number of new cases of breast cancer has jumped dramatically worldwide, from about 640,000 in 1980 to more than 1.6 million in 2010.

During the 30 years covered by the study, breast cancer cases have increased in all parts of the world by 3.1 percent a year, the researchers found. Dr. Rafael Lozano, a professor of global health at the university’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation said “what we have found is that while countries such as the United States and United Kingdom have been able to greatly lower the risk of women dying from breast cancer, through better screening and treatment, countries with fewer resources are seeing their risks go up,”

Over the same period, the number of cases of cervical cancer has crept up much more slowly and deaths from that cancer have declined, although in 2010 it still killed 200,000 women around the world. In 2010, 51 percent of new cases of breast cancer and 76 percent of the 454,000 cases of cervical cancer were in developing countries, the researchers noted.

The world rightly recognizes that no woman should die because of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth, Lozano said. “Now that we can clearly see the trends in breast and cervical cancer, they need to become a central part of the discussion when priorities are being set for women’s health programs,” he said.

The report was published in the Sept. 15 online edition of The Lancet.

For the study, Lozano and colleagues collected data from more than 300 cancer registries and cause-of-death offices in 187 countries.

“It is clear from the data that since the late 1980s, women who develop breast cancer have had a better chance of surviving because early screening is working and treatment is working,” Lozano said.

In 1980, one out of every 32 women in the United States risked dying from breast cancer. By 2010, one out of every 46 women had that risk, he added.

Personally I am agreement with Dr. Lozano that early detection is playing a huge roll in the decline of the mortality rate of those afflicted with cancer. I also believe that a large reason for this success is due to the new approach to combating the disease utilized by health care centers such as The Cancer Treatment Centers of America. As I’m sure you already know, pregnancy puts extra stress on your heart and lungs. Pregnancy can also affect your immune system. These factors increase the risk not only of getting the flu but of developing serious complications of the flu, such as pneumonia and respiratory distress. In turn, flu complications increase the risk of premature labor, preterm birth and other pregnancy complications.

Pregnant women, even those in perfect health, can become very ill if they get the flu.

For example, one large study examined the effect of the flu on pregnant women over the course of 17 flu seasons. The study found that pregnant women in the third trimester were just as likely to be hospitalized for heart or lung problems as were women with serious, chronic medical conditions who were not pregnant.

The risk increased the farther along the women were in their pregnancies. Healthy women at 37 to 42 weeks were almost five times as likely to be admitted to the hospital during the flu season for heart or lung problems as women who were one to six months postpartum. Another study showed that pregnant women with asthma were at extra high risk for hospitalization during the flu season. The pandemic H1N1 flu virus of 2009 proved to be particularly harmful to pregnant women, and it is still circulating.

The flu shot and pregnancy; to take the flu shot or not?

Over the past few flu seasons there has been increased concern over pregnancy and the flu shot.  This concern is based primarily on the question of the safety of the mercury contain preservatives used in the vaccines and it’s connection with a drastic increase of the autism rate over the past few decades. Proposed guidelines governing any new ingredients used in dietary supplements are one of the hottest issues facing the supplement industry and could significantly change the way business is done, some trade groups say. This is not good news for the smaller manufacturers of nutritional supplement products nor is it good for the consumer of said products.

This is a difficult topic to discuss with sounding somewhat conspiratorial at times and I will do my best to constrain myself as this article is being written. The Bottom Line is that if you are a consumer of dietary supplements or if you are in the health & wellness industry this is a MUST READ for you.

As you know, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is the governing body, in the United States which regulates and oversees both the pharmaceutical industry as well as the nutritional supplement industry.  The US’s drug ‘regulator’ – which is funded by drug companies – has put forward a new mandate that will effectively remove from the market all nutritional supplements that have been introduced or modified since 1994.

These supplements would be viewed as ‘new dietary ingredients’ (NDIs) and would have to pass through rigorous safety tests.  The costs of these tests will be beyond the reach of many small manufacturers, and so they will be removed from the market.

Americans have until October 1 to voice their objections to their Congressional representative.  

Nutritional supplements have enjoyed protection under the DSHEA ruling of 1994, which has allowed supplements and vitamins to be freely sold as long as the manufacturer does not make any unproven claims for their efficacy.

The NDI mandate mirrors the European Union directives, which prevent any ‘novel’ supplement from being sold without first passing rigorous and expensive safety trials.  The Alliance for Natural Health-USA is co-coordinating protests against the mandate, which it will pass on to members of Congress.

I believe it is critical for Americans who are not informed to get up to speed on this issue before it’s too late.  This issue goes directly to the heart of our liberty and our right to choose the way we deal with our personal health that that of our loved ones.  No one has the right to tell us what we can and can’t put into our bodies much less the FDA who is not even an official government entity.  In fact the FDA does not have to answer to the US government at all.  It is a completely autonomous entity.  They create their own regulations at will and need not consult the US Congress, Senate or President in doing so.

This is not a conspiracy theory.  It has already happened in Europe and is about to happen in “the land of the free”.

It seems that in terms of preventive medicine, over the last few decades, there is a paradigm shift taking place within the conventional medical community. There are more and more vaccines being developed and entering the market place than ever before.

The question; is this a good thing or not?

I suppose the answer lies within our individual perceptions.

The whole idea behind vaccinations, as a therapy, is that when an antigen is introduced into the body it triggers an immune response which is then stored within our immune system’s memory banks (for lack of a better term) to prepare the body for a possible attack at a later time.

The question here is; do vaccinations actually achieve the intended results?

A study in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) provides data on deaths from infectious diseases over the last century. When this data is juxtaposed (place or deal with close together for contrasting effect) with the introduction of vaccination programs for a variety of diseases, we see that most vaccines have had little to no effect, and some may even be harmful.

Results of the JAMA Study

With the exception of 1918, when the influenza epidemic struck, the rate of deaths from infectious diseases shows a fairly smooth rate of decrease from 1900 through 1980, at which point a slight rate of increase develops.

Deaths graphed by groups of diseases show some variations. The most significant improvements are in typhous and dysentery. Both of these diseases show almost no deaths after 1960. Significantly, there is no vaccination for dysentery and most people are not vaccinated for typhous.

Tuberculosis rates show a curve similar to the overall infectious disease rate. Interestingly, the death rate from pneumonia and influenza from 1970 through 1996 shows a general increase, in spite of the ongoing vaccinations for influenza and the introduction of pneumonia vaccines in 1977 and 1983.

As noted above, deaths from typhous and dysentery plunge to near-zero by 1960—though there is no vaccine for dysentery and passingly few people are vaccinated against typhous.

Diphtheria shows its greatest decrease of deaths prior to 1920. There was a spike in diphtheria deaths during the early 1920′s, shortly after the vaccination was introduced, and then the rate of decrease continued as before the vaccination’s introduction. Whooping cough (pertussis) and measles showed the same general trend of decrease during the 20th century.

Finally, take a look at the chart for death rates from all disease causes. From 1900 into the 1920s, the infectious disease rate goes down at an impressive pace. This is a time during which there were no vaccinations against childhood diseases. The decrease in the rate of deaths continues at about the same pace well into the 1950s. Then, it starts to level out, in spite of the fact that the vast majority of children are vaccinated during this time.

Now, take a look at the same graph showing the death rates from all diseases. This should make you nervous. The rate of death from noninfectious causes decreases slightly from 1900 through 1920. However, during the 1930s, when vaccinations start to be introduced, the death rate from noninfectious causes started to increase!

Our Conclusion:

For decades the conventional medical community, at large, has been touting the effectiveness of vaccinations in the prevention of disease.  Yet, as every single graph from JAMA’s own data base shows that these maladies were already on the decline some 30+ years before the introduction of these “life saving vaccines”!

It is more likely, in our opinion, that the decrease in the infection and mortality rate of these maladies can be attributed more to improvements in diet and sanitary conditions than the vaccination program instituted by the conventional medical community.

If you are so inclined to “take the shot” do so.  We are not posting this article to discourage you from controlling your own personal health care.  Quite to the contrary.  We have provided you with this point of view to empower you to be able to make an informed decision based on all sides of the issue.
